Stefano Boeri Architetti‘s project for the recovery of the Ex Arsenale was chosen as one of the 40 best new public spaces in Europe. Awarded by the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB), the Architekturzentrum Wien (Az W), the Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine of Paris, the Nederlands Architectuur instituut of Rotterdam (NAi), The Architecture Foundation of London (AF) the Suomen Rakennustaiteen Museo of Helsinki (SRM) and the Deutsches Architekturmuseum of Frankfurt (DAM) the Sixth European Prize for Urban Public Space jury looked at over 300 projects from 32 European countries.
As one of the 40 best works of this year’s award Stefano Boeri Architetti’s project for the recovery of the Ex Arsenale at La Maddalena will be included in the on-line European Archive of Urban Public Space (http://www.publicspace.org/en/archive). The archive consists of a selection of the best projects presented for the Prize, and is aimed at promoting the value of public space in Europe.
This year’s jury was formed by Mr. Rafael Moneo as President, Mr. Severi Blomstedt (SRM, Helsinki), Mr. Ole Bouman (NAI, Rotterdam), Ms. Sarah Mineko Ichioka (AF, London), Mr. Francis Rambert (La Cité, Paris), Mr. Dietmar Steiner (AzW, Vienna) and Mr Peter Cachola Schmal (DAM, Frankfurt).
