Stefano Boeri Architetti has won a competition organized by Tecnocamere for the project of the new Monza Chamber of Commerce headquarters (Camera di Commercio Industria Artigianato Agricoltura di Monza e Brianza).

The main idea of the requalification of the former cotton mill Fossati, the building which nowadays is the center of the administrative activities of the Chamber of Commerce, is the addition of a new volume hosting the representative and communication spaces.

The building is conceived as a plugin: the new structure fits in with the existing one in order to modify the spacial and functional relations and it permits a new flexible distribution and access system able to respond to different use needs. The timber cladding of the suspended volume, which definitively invades the distribution space of the existing building at the first and the second floor, has the proper aim to organize and divide the congressional space from the administrative one, in order to allow an independent use of the two buildings.

The new congress hall (250 seats) volume has been conceived as a unique, omogenous and one-material body, ovelooking the parking space, the latter retough as a new public space and access to the buldings.
