PAPIER-MACHE MUSEUM : NOLA, NAPOLI

October 22, 2003

The competition area comes from a begun project, later left over: the existing surrounding wall was conceived to enclose pavillions of the new Nola prison.

The intervention program changed after the construction of the fence. Within the edge, two big courts organize the museum’s open space and the loading and unloading area connected to craftsmen’s working places.
The museum itself is a learning path made out of corridors, rooms and big halls. At the very end of the path, a watching tower brings the visitor up to a 35 meters high platform, where one can reach the Vesuvio by sight.
