MEET DESIGN | ROME

September 15, 2011

On Wednesday, September 15th 2011, the opening of Meet Design in Trajan Market, Rome. An initiative set up by RCS Group to promote Italian design, curated by Marco Romanelli and designed by Stefano Boeri Architteti.

Meet Design is organized in three areas: Meet Show, Meet Talents and Meet People. Meet Show is a big historical exhibition of unusual design pieces from 1948 till  today, which narrates the extraordinary work of Italian designers and enterpreuners.

Meet Talents is a stage dedicated to young designers: twenty Italian design studios present their projects. And Meet People is a roundtables of discussion to better understand  protagonists of the Italian Design.

The exhibition is designed by Stefano Boeri Architetti:

“We have carefully designed and curated the special relationship between the exhibition’s space and its surrounding. We put our accent on the tradition of the place and at the same time on the present, thanks to an exhibition layout ables to emphasize the chronological evolution of more than 300 objects selected. A river of objects penetrates the Trajan Markets, using its peculiar light, it creates a game of reflections, which lead the visitor inside this object’s flux. A narration through the objects tells the past, describes the present and promotes the future of Italian Design.

Flux and archipelagos made of reflective and opaque glass are flexible elements able to display in different contexts the objects of our everyday life, culture and know how. Silver trails mark a strong bond with the history, ready to confront itself with the future challenges of the design culture. “
